Here are the biggest factors that affect the price of an epoxy floor:
- Size of the space: larger floors need more material and more labor, while smaller floors still require the same setup and preparation steps.
- Condition of the concrete: cracks, chips, spalling, pitting, and uneven areas need to be repaired before coating.
- Existing coatings: old paint, failed DIY epoxy, sealers, carpet glue, or tile must be fully removed so the new system can bond properly.
- Moisture in the slab: concrete that holds moisture may need a moisture vapor barrier primer to prevent future peeling.
- System and finish: flake, quartz, metallic, or solid color systems and the choice of topcoat all use different materials and steps.
- Layout and details: stairs, steps, drains, edges, and cove base take extra time and care.
- Timeline needs: fast return-to-service options (such as UV curing) are available at extra cost.
